Information about Park and Ride in Täsch:
There is a direct train connection in Brig and Visp to the modern narrow-gauge Matterhorn Gotthard Railway, which makes its way for an hour and a half through the rugged and romantic scenery of the Nicolai Valley to Zermatt.
The new Lötschberg Base Tunnel from Frutigen (BE) to Raron (VS) shortens the train journey to Zermatt considerably:
The world famous Glacier Express (St. Moritz / Davos - Zermatt) also starts and ends in Zermatt.
Zermatt is car-free. Only electric vehicles for commercial purposes and horse-drawn carts are allowed. It is possible to walk almost everywhere on foot. Or you can get around comfortably by electric taxi. Electric buses provide public transportation services.
During winter (1 November to 30 May) all Zermatt mountain railways tickets for the southern area (Matterhorn glacier paradise) are valid for free travel on the "Bergbahnen" line. It is slightly different on the "Winkelmatten" line: during winter, free travel is only available if in possession of a multi-ticket (Peak Pass etc.) or a ski pass.
In summer none of the mountain railway tickets are valid for free travel on the “Winkelmatten" line. On the “Bergbahnen" line everything is just as it is in winter, i.e. anyone in possession of a ski pass, a Peak Pass or a single ticket for the southern area (Gebiet Süd) travels for free.
